I have been so lucky to have filmed some of the most beautiful weddings in Chattanooga. Josh & Melissa’s wedding was no exception. Coordinated by Soiree’s, Morgan did a great job helping to put all the finishing touches together. Melissa wanted a storybook wedding and that is exactly what she got. From the ceremony at that First Cumberland Presbyterian church to the exquisitely decorated Silver Ballroom at the Read House Hotel.
This was my second opportunity to work with Barry Aslinger,, truly one of the finest wedding photographer’s in Chattanooga. Barry takes great care to produce artistic images. His work is stunning. The Adonio Trio furnished the strings music for the ceremony. They music is always so beautiful and reallly adds to the ambience of the ceremony.
This is a wedding highlight piece I put together for Josh & Melissa. I hope you enjoy it.. please leave a comment.

Last week Holly Cowart with the North River Community News came to my studio and conducted an interview with me. It was great to be able to share with her what our industry is all about and how sometimes it is so misunderstood. I think the article turned out very nice and I really appreciate Holly taking the time to learn about my business. If you get a chance, check out the article.. just click on the link below to be directed to the webpage.

Last August, Kye and Elizabeth were married in a beautiful ceremony at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with a reception following at the Silver Ballroom inside the Read House. The wedding was featured in last month’s Premier Bride magazine. The beautiful images you may have seen in that article were created by John Bamber photography. With the help of Annette Dooley, the wedding coordinator, everything went smooth.

Today I met with Deb and her daughter Marissa to discuss plans to shoot her wedding in Oahu in July. I am so looking forward to this trip. Marissa is a beautiful woman and her fiance is one of the greatest guys I have ever met.. and does a pretty darn good impression of Johnny Cash. They booked me for photography and to produce her wedding film. I am looking forward to the fantastic vistas and colors that can only be found in Hawaii. So keep in touch, sometime in August I will post some sample images from Oahu.

Usually when I post something here on my blog I try to include an image or a video clip. But tonight I thought I would just write a little about my past week. Last Sunday I left for Orlando Florida for the 4Ever Group annual conference called Video 08. Although that week took me away from my computer and my editing work, what I gained for my time spent was well worth the time away.
Video 08, for you who are reading this and have no idea, is a congregation of media producers from all over the world. There are seminars and roundtable discussions and opportunities to learn about our craft and fine tune what we do. Its a way to see other’s work and learn from other’s styles. I always come back from this event with knowledge that helps take my productions to another level.
One thing that is less than measurable that I came away with last week was that we as event media producers love our work. We care about our customers and we strive to produce the best films we can. That we are not just videographers… that there are many facets of what we do that go beyond just video. At each event, we try to capture the emotions and the story that is being told. We want to show the beauty and elegance of each wedding, no matter how big or how small. We have to be good listeners and be able to reproduce the sounds that were heard on that day. We have to know how to position our microphones and how to set the recording devices so that each sound is crisp and clear and will reflect the day. We have to know how to make beautiful images when sometimes the conditions are not the best. We do not control the light, there are no second takes, but when its all over, we produce memories and beauty that the bride will treasure forever. A bride does not purchase a wedding video from us, she invests in her own wedding story and her wedding story becomes a priceless work to be enjoyed by the couple, her family and friends and generations to come.
So I was gone for a few days, Sunday through Thursday. I came back and then spent Saturday and Sunday in Atlanta at another workshop. So its been a busy week to say the least. But now, I am anxious to get back on track and continue to produce even better wedding films than before.
One thing that has been hard this week was being away from my family for so long. It seems like I have been gone for a long time. My little boy is getting so big and talking so well. Its so much fun just to be around him. My older son, Tony, is doing great in college and everyday is finding his own way. My wife, wow, what a job she does. Trying to run a business and raise a little boy at the same time is tough. And when her husband is gone for a week it makes it even harder. So thanks, Amy… I love you.
So thats it for this week. I will get something new posted soon. I plan on trying to post more trailers in the future. Goodbye and good luck.

Cara and Jordan were married in Maryville Tennessee earlier this year. What a wonderful couple and a wonderful family. Debbie, Jordan’s aunt, contacted me and asked me film the event. This is a short clip that I put together as a preview for them while they wait for the edit to complete.

Carolyn, yes the same Carolyn, approached me after the wedding anniversary shoot to talk about filming her church’s 41st Fall Festival. After meeting with her and the Pastor of her church, it was decided that we would film the event. It was very important to capture all of the events and the audio had to be exact. Life Productions has always taken pride in the audio that we capture. We use only professional audio recording devices and professional microphones along with our professional video cameras. Combined, its a perfect scenario for recording such an event. Here are her words regarding the production of the Fall Festival:
Shane,
I have had the opportunity to share the DVD of the Tucker Baptist Fall Festival with only a few at this point. Every comment has been with excitement and disbelief as to how wonderful it is. The sound is incredible. I look forward to sharing it with many more.
The blog is wonderful! Thanks for including us. We are very excited and looking forward to acquiring your services again in November 2008, for our 42nd Festival of Music.
We appreciate the opportunity to have the choir photo done again. I will be in contact with you concerning dates of availability for the choir and guest and see if any of the dates work for you.
Thanks again for outstanding work!
Carolyn

A few weeks ago I was asked by Carolyn to film her parent’s 60th Wedding Anniversary! Wow, what an event. How great must it be to celebrate 60 years of marriage. I learned a lot that night and had a great time. Everyone was so friendly and made us feel like a guest. it certainly was a privelidge for me to be a part of this truly historic event. I know that this production will be treasured for many generations to come. Thanks Carolyn and the other siblings for such kind words:
Shane,
I wanted to get input from other family members before I contacted you on the results of the Anniversary Celebration for our parents. Collectively we have combined our feelings.
We would like to thank you for a spectacularly awesome job that was done on our parents 60th wedding anniversary. The pictures and DVD were far above any photographic work that any of us have experienced. The colors were vibrant and precise. Everyone looked exactly as they are, as if they are looking into a reflective mirror.
Viewing what you did makes us feel that we are reliving that blessed day over and over again.
We have to say that you certainly lived up to and surpassed our greatest expectations. Your work is truly remarkable!
We cannot thank you enough for a job WELL-DONE! These memories will last forever.
Respectfully,
Carolyn

I had the opportunity to shoot the 41st Annual Fall Festival for the Greater Tucker Baptist Church the week of Thanksgiving. What an event that was. So much talent in that tiny little church. Whatever your faith may be there is one thing for certain, there was definitely a spirit in that room that night. I wanted to include one of the songs from the evening here on my blog for your enjoyment. The name of the song is I Am Confident sung by Mary Inbonen (I am sure I misspelled her name, sorry) This woman sounds so much like Aretha Franklin it’s scary. Maybe we could convince her to try out for American Idol!
It was a spectacular evening, everyone was so nice and made me feel really blessed for just being there.
